Briefly describe your eating habits before getting more organized?
With my two busy children's schedules and my husband and I each having an hour
commute from work, our eating habits consisted of starting to cook at 8:30 at night or
stopping and 'picking something up' which means fast food. I would say on average
we were eating out 3 to 4 times a week. Our bodies were getting fatter as my wallet
was getting thinner!
Tell us about cleaning out your freezer?
Cleaning out, more like organizational balancing! We now have your meals neatly
stacked in the freezer with the corresponding sides beside them. It leaves a section
for the frozen treat food as well that keeps the kids from standing with the freezer
door open. I should factor the amount of electricity being savings into my new grocery
costs using the Studio Kitchen! More savings for us!
Which package do you prefer order from the Studio Kitchen and why?
We are currently taking advantage of the preassembled package of 42 meals. In our
family of 4, that's seven days worth of dinners with 4 days worth of leftovers that we
take for lunches. It works out great because I keep your menu on the fridge and get
feedback each week of what the family wants to try and/or re-try the following week.
What are you doing for sides?
With the quick ease of these meals I find myself needing quick sides which is resulting
in healthier choices too! We do a lot of fresh salads and frozen vegetables. I often will
throw some Mexican rice or fresh yams in the microwave and the are done around the
same time the oven timer goes off! It beats the fast food French fries that were
previously served.
Are you using our Mealplanner or any other meal planning method?
I mentioned I keep your menu on the fridge for feedback on menu choices from my
husband and the kiddos. I will go through and write the sides beside the meal item
and I take it to the store and shop off of it. Then on the fridge it goes for everyone to
know what's in store and they can even get it started if I am running late coming home
from the office! You have to love the kids being to cook dinner!
Do you eat together as a family?
Very much so. Eating together as a family is sometimes the only time we truly have
together to share the day. It is so much nicer doing it over a hot healthy meal rather
than a greasy fast food bag.
What impact is The Studio Kitchen's food having on your life?
You have literally knocked something off of my list for me! And that is paramount
since my list is a mile long! I don't have to worry about dinner and no more standing in
the pantry exhausted trying to figure out what to cook. On top of that, you have given
my family healthier choices in dinner. I don't feel guilty about serving them your food
with a salad that takes less effort than going through the drive-thru!
Anything else you wish to communicate?
I am so glad I am back! We took a break for awhile deciding that we needed to cut
back on our budget. After examining the eating out expenses I sat my husband down
and explained it comparing apples and oranges: It's not just the grocery bill compared
to the Studio Kitchen - It's the grocery bill, the eating out bill, the amount our time is
worth, our lifestyle and our health. I'm glad to say I have my personal chefs back! ;)
